This chapter will offer a brief overview of the effect of enhanced perioperative care in elderly patients. Evidence indicates that elderly and frail individuals face an increased risk of complications following major abdominal surgery, and implementing ERAS protocols is expected to yield positive outcomes for these patients. Some items of the ERAS protocol should be considered of major importance, moreover in elderly and will be discussed. Existing literature supports enhanced recovery protocols as feasible and safe in all patients, regardless of age.
