The essay places the Discours de métaphysique (1686) of Leibniz in the process of reformulation of the relationship between transcendence and immanence that characterizes the beginnings of modern thought. It offers a new interpretation of it in the light of two hypotheses: 1) the Discours de métaphysique belongs to the genre of meditation, a specific form of philosophical thought and writing whose main features are indicated; 2) the focus of the text is Leibniz’ notion of "expression", which is important to understand, in Leibniz, not only as a theme, but first of all as a generating principle of the meditation itself.

Abstract
The essay places the Discours de métaphysique (1686) of Leibniz in the process of reformulation of the relationship between transcendence and immanence that characterizes the beginnings of modern thought. It offers a new interpretation of it in the light of two hypotheses: 1) the Discours de métaphysique belongs to the genre of meditation, a specific form of philosophical thought and writing whose main features are indicated; 2) the focus of the text is Leibniz’ notion of "expression", which is important to understand, in Leibniz, not only as a theme, but first of all as a generating principle of the meditation itself.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
