GENERE E DISCIPLINE STEM: IL RUOLO DELLA PEDAGOGIA NELL’ORIENTARE RAGAZZI E RAGAZZE

The paper focuses on the theme of the low presence of girls in university training courses in the field of STEM, in Italy. The European Union stresses that this segregation of training is an important problem for the future: in fact, more and more jobs will be required in the technological and scientific fields. The essay reflects on the problem, on the causes, and on some initiatives promoted to contain and combat it. The reflections show how the University must and can play a role of a cultural center and propulsive towards the territory. The pedagogy is also called to ensure interventions that are not only on a plan of information and content but are directed to arouse greater awareness and critical thinking.

Il saggio si focalizza sulla tematica dell’attuale scarsa presenza delle ragazze all’interno di percorsi formativi universitari nell’ambito delle discipline STEM, nel nostro Paese. Questo fenomeno di segregazione formativa, come rilevato dall’Unione Europea, costituisce un problema importante per il futuro, perché saranno sempre più richieste professioni in ambito tecnologico e scientifico. Il contributo riflette sinteticamente sul fenomeno, sulle cause e su alcune iniziative promosse per contenerlo e contrastarlo. Le riflessioni mostrano come l’Università debba e possa svolgere un ruolo di presidio culturale rispetto al territorio e come la pedagogia sia chiamata a garantire interventi che non si collochino solo su un versante didattico- disciplinare, ma costituiscano uno stimolo per il raggiungimento di maggiori consapevolezze e pensiero critico.
