WHEN THE ETHNOGRAPHY OF FASHION MEETS CRAFTS CONSERVATION AND RESTORATION. THE EXHIBIT "ARTISANS DE L'ELEGANCE" Conducting research on museum collections of costume and fashion in Paris and in private archives of the great French couturiers, Marinella Carosso questions the practices of conservation and the restoration of textiles. The cases encountered during the various stages of research in preparation for a section for the exhibition "Artisans de l'Elegance" are numerous: the preservation and restoration of underwear - a very neglected sector within the textile category - to models of accessories by artisans and entrepreneurs registered with the Conseil de Prud'hommes of the Department of the Seine as "patents for invention", to plan their falsification of their "industrial property". The intense experience of working for the exhibit "Artisans of the" Elegance " showns that in the field of textile conservation and restoration , the shortcomings and delays are not only found in small local museums but also in large national museums.

QUANDO L'ETNOGRAFIA DELLA MODA INCONTRA RESTAURAZIONE E RESTAURO. LA MOSTRA "ARTISANS DE L'ELEGANCE" Svolgendo ricerche sulle collezioni dei musei del costume e della moda parigini e presso archivi privati dei grandi sarti francesi, Marinella Carosso si è interrogata sulle pratiche di conservazione e restauro dei tessili. I casi incontrati durante le varie fasi della ricerca in previsione dell'allestimento di un settore della mostra "Artisans de l'élégance" sono parecchi: dalla conservazione e restauro di capi di biancheria intima - settore assai trascurato all'interno della categoria tessili -, ai modelli di accessori depositati da artigiani e imprenditori presso il Conseil de Prud'hommes del Dipartimento della Senna come "brevetto d'invenzione", al fine di progettere dalla falsificazione la loro "proprietà industriale". L'intensa esperienza di lavoro per la mostra "Artisans de l"élégance" ha messo in luce che nel settore della conservazione e restauro dei tessili, le carenze e i ritardi non si riscontrano solo a livello di piccoli musei locali ma anche a livello di grandi musei nazionali.
