The present study aims at analysing the causal relationships between residents’ characteristics and their support to tourism development. To achieve this aim a structural equation model will be used, which allows, in a proper way, to explain the link between resident population and tourists. The identified model highlights how the residents’ support to tourism development is directly and/or indirectly influenced by eight factors, five of which are exogenous underlying variables (community attachment, community concern, ecological attitude, overcrowding in tourism facilities, tourist status of residents), and the remaining three are endogenous (socio-economic-cultural benefits, socio-economic-cultural costs, the local economy situation).

Abstract
The present study aims at analysing the causal relationships between residents’ characteristics and their support to tourism development. To achieve this aim a structural equation model will be used, which allows, in a proper way, to explain the link between resident population and tourists. The identified model highlights how the residents’ support to tourism development is directly and/or indirectly influenced by eight factors, five of which are exogenous underlying variables (community attachment, community concern, ecological attitude, overcrowding in tourism facilities, tourist status of residents), and the remaining three are endogenous (socio-economic-cultural benefits, socio-economic-cultural costs, the local economy situation).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
