Systematic study of situations is one of the most important tasks for personality research. Rauthmann et al. undertake the endeavour of organizing this line of research by refining terminology and proposing basic principles for guiding future studies in the field. We praise this effort and argue that it would benefit from integrating a functional approach within its principles, with a clearer distinction between functional and cognitive levels of analysis.

Abstract
Systematic study of situations is one of the most important tasks for personality research. Rauthmann et al. undertake the endeavour of organizing this line of research by refining terminology and proposing basic principles for guiding future studies in the field. We praise this effort and argue that it would benefit from integrating a functional approach within its principles, with a clearer distinction between functional and cognitive levels of analysis.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
