The progressive though slow growth of women's presence in top management leads to numerous queries regarding both the reversibility and potential of the change in trend, and the factors responsible for the greater difficulties which - despite the headway achieved in the training and professional fields - women's careers still seem to encounter. The data retrieved through quantitative and qualitative survey techniques have enabled us, as well as the importance and persistence of structural elements, to highlight the resistance and also transformations characterising the Italian employment market in the different professional sectors and various geographical areas. Moreover data have allowed us to grasp how young women in the everyday life are trying to construct new identities, experiencing new model of relationships in couples and families and new way to conciliate their private and public roles.
