The paper presents an integrated information system that prevents academic dropout and supports academic performance and distance interactivity. The system was realized at the University of Milan – Bicocca (Italy) and it is based on three steps: orienting (information system), preparing (facilitating students’ access to the course and solving technical problem) and supporting during the academic life (for students and tutors). The integrated system allows students to enter in the educational reality gradually, reducing the risk of dropout. The paper presents also the results of empirical researches.
