The eight contributions deal theoretically and empirically with the persuasive and manipulative power of linguistic implicit communication as a means to reduce critical attention. Discourse, functional and cognitive diversities between different implicit strategies are elucidated, through corpus-based research on various types of persuasive texts, and from different theoretical standpoints.
