This study examines verbal violence against women in Palestinian domestic relationships, focusing on its psychological, social, and political implications. Analyzing narratives from two Facebook support groups—Ask the Girls of Palestine and Strong Independent Women—the research reveals how verbal abuse functions as a tool of control, dehumanization, and emotional manipulation. A thematic analysis of the words of 18 participants from regions across Palestine (Hebron, Nablus, Jenin, Bethlehem, Salfit) uncovers the role of patriarchal norms, family honor, and motherhood in sustaining abuse. The study highlights how cultural pressures prevent women from seeking help, yet many develop coping mechanisms, including mental reframing and finding solidarity in online communities. These platforms offer anonymous support, empowering women to resist and manage abusive situations while exposing how verbal abuse diminishes autonomy and reinforces patriarchal dominance.

Abstract
These platforms offer anonymous support, empowering women to resist and manage abusive situations while exposing how verbal abuse diminishes autonomy and reinforces patriarchal dominance.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
