The review question, analysed by means of the Integrative Review process (Whittemore & Knafl, 2005), made it possible to define the research question concerning the relationship between theological intelligence and learning in adolescence (Sisk, 2002). The research paradigms and reference methodologies considered are the Phenomenology of the Subject (Galli, 1983; Mortari, 2023) and Conversationalism (Lai, 1993). The strategy used for data collection is participatory action research (PAR) with related observational and descriptive instruments. After the endorsement of the Ethics Committee, University of Milan Bicocca, the data collection took place in the Province of Sondrio, within the Garden Theatre project activated by the Social Promotion Association Spartiacque within a scientific research agreement with the University of Milan Bicocca. Thirty participants aged 14 to 25, including university students, were involved. The data collection, mediated by the artistic experience of theatre (Dewey, 2020; Massa 2001), was carried out from epistemic and aesthetic objects, i.e. images and words, which guided the participants' theological reflections and theatrical actions. The images came from the Aberdeen Bestiary, a medieval manuscript dating back to the 12th century, while the words were taken from selected pages of Dostoevsky's novel The Brothers Karamazov, relating to the figure of the stàrets Zosìma. The data and results analysis, by means of the indicated methodologies, revealed the theological thinking of adolescents as an innate exercise of knowledge of the human intellect, capable of questioning issues of the spirit. The generalisable results of the participatory action research concern the possibility of describing the theological intelligence of young people and adolescents in its analytical (scientific, active, productive, rational, ordering, classifying) and synthetic (contemplative, intuitive, hermeneutic, poetic, aesthetic) forms. Moreover, among the research results, there emerges the need to recover a form of education to the word that can and knows how to oppose a powerful taboo of our times, a reason for suffering in young people and silence in adults: the inability and prohibition to talk about God and the transcendent issues of human life. The art of practising speech, together with the art of improvising with body and voice, become a pedagogical art of hope (Durand, 2013; Freire, 2004; Bloch, 2019; Antonacci, 2023) in a world where ethical and aesthetic dimensions meet. The performing arts activated a process of spiritual and linguistic formation of adolescents and adults capable of stimulating dialogue and mutual listening. At the end of the research, in order to initiate a critical evaluation of the process, young people were involved in a focus group to analyse and validate the initial results: the participants did not stop only around the concept of theological intelligence, but reasoned on the centrality of the word, on the meaning of words, on the correlation between words and actions, proposing the image of cultivation: it is necessary to cultivate the word in order to recover the meaning of life and transcendence towards the happy search of art and play as a pedagogical perspective.

Abstract
