The kinetics of the SO2 to SO3 oxidation reaction at electrocatalytically active Pt and V2O5 electrodes have been investigated by means of the solid state electrochemical technique in the 450-500°C temperature range. The results, reported in terms of the conversion of SO2 to SO3 are compared with that calculated from the equilibrium constant of the reaction {A figure is presented} and show that the electrochemically generated oxygen behaves as an "active" oxygen and that, at the higher current densities, the electrolyte presumably is the catalytically active surface. © 1979.

Abstract
The kinetics of the SO2 to SO3 oxidation reaction at electrocatalytically active Pt and V2O5 electrodes have been investigated by means of the solid state electrochemical technique in the 450-500°C temperature range. The results, reported in terms of the conversion of SO2 to SO3 are compared with that calculated from the equilibrium constant of the reaction {A figure is presented} and show that the electrochemically generated oxygen behaves as an "active" oxygen and that, at the higher current densities, the electrolyte presumably is the catalytically active surface. © 1979.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
