CeO2 has been used as the active electrode material in a solid state device for the determination of the oxygen partial pressure in CO/CO2 mixtures. Gaseous mixtures with molar ratio CO/CO2 from 3:1 to 1:3 have been investigated in the 600-850°C temperature range. The performance of this oxygen electrode has been proved better than that of the porous platinum one, because it shows a comparatively better accuracy and a faster time of equilibration with the gaseous atmosphere. © 1979.

Abstract

CeO2 has been used as the active electrode material in a solid state device for the determination of the oxygen partial pressure in CO/CO2 mixtures. Gaseous mixtures with molar ratio CO/CO2 from 3:1 to 1:3 have been investigated in the 600-850°C temperature range. The performance of this oxygen electrode has been proved better than that of the porous platinum one, because it shows a comparatively better accuracy and a faster time of equilibration with the gaseous atmosphere. © 1979.
