L'occasione di diventare mondo

The text, the result of three years' research with Sinti families in Italy, Calón families in Brazil and Roma families in Romania, addresses the challenge of coexistence. Each of the case studies is explored by describing the contexts in which the Roma find themselves living, reconstructing their relationships with institutions (schools, police, social services and local administrations) and the effects of these relationships on people's lives and processes of coexistence. This is done both through the reconstruction of an emic perspective, of the groups considered, and of the institutional actors. The three case studies are then placed side by side and considered according to a comparative approach that offers keys to profoundly interesting interpretations.

IL testo, frutto di una ricerca triennale realizzata con famiglie di sinti in Italia, di calòn in Brasile e di rom in Romania, affronta la sfida della convivenza. Ognuno dei casi studio viene esplorato descrivendo i contesti entro cui i rom si trovano a vivere, ricostruendo le relazioni con le istituzioni (scuola, forze dell'ordine, servizi sociali e amministrazioni locali)e gli effetti di queste relazioni sulle vite delle persone e sui processi di convivenza. Ciò sia attraverso la ricostruzione di una prospettiva emica, dei gruppi considerati, sia degli attori istituzionali. I tre casi studio vengono poi tra loro affiancati e considerati secondo un approccio comparativo che offre chiavi di lettura di profondo interesse.
