After the pandemic, promoting mental health and preventing discomfort in adolescents have become primary tasks, especially at school, where youth manifest discomfort and where the latter can further worsen. We conducted a qualitative study based on the hermeneutical phenomenological approach. Eight high school students from the province of Bergamo were involved in two focus groups to explore their representations, experiences, and ideas on mental well-being and dis- comfort, especially considering their daily school life. At the end of a year characterized by the pan- demic, the participants depicted their school and teachers as a system that still is scarcely aware and attentive to the student’s mental health. At the same time, they recognized to schools a great potential in promoting mental well-being and preventing students’ discomfort, thanks to authentic educational activities that teachers can carry out in ordinary school teaching.
