The paper aims at framing the consequences of land grabbing within the paradigm of food sovereignty and food security, investigating the case of land rights violations and revendication of ancestral populations of rural Ethiopia. The analysis shows that even when food security needs of the local communities are in antithesis with land investment interests, their position is powerless. It is an easy task for national and international actors involved to neglect their land rights. Reading the phenomenon through the lens of food sovereignty, Ethiopia ancestral communities are not just losing their lands, but the capacity to self-determinate their own future.

Abstract
The paper aims at framing the consequences of land grabbing within the paradigm of food sovereignty and food security, investigating the case of land rights violations and revendication of ancestral populations of rural Ethiopia. The analysis shows that even when food security needs of the local communities are in antithesis with land investment interests, their position is powerless. It is an easy task for national and international actors involved to neglect their land rights. Reading the phenomenon through the lens of food sovereignty, Ethiopia ancestral communities are not just losing their lands, but the capacity to self-determinate their own future.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
