The book explores from a pedagogical perspective the role of materiality in the self-management practices of type 1 diabetes. Through the Actor-Netwotk Theory and the results of a field research, the text intends to accompany the reader inside the indissoluble health-disease interweaving that characterizes the universe of chronicity in order to interrogate the myriad of patient-artefacts interactions and reconstruct the social and material networks that make the practice of self-management possible every day.

Il testo esplora dal punto di vista pedagogico il ruolo della materialità nelle pratiche di autogestione del diabete di tipo 1. Attraverso l'Actor-Netwotk Theory e i risultati di una ricerca sul campo, il volume intende accompagnare il lettore all'interno dell'indistricabile intreccio salute-malattia che caratterizza l'universo della cronicità per interrogare la miriade di interazioni paziente-artefatti e ricostruire le reti sociali e materiali che rendono possibile ogni giorno la pratica dell'autogestione.
