aim of the work When performing surgical treatment a dentist often has to face systemic diseases. The present work underlines the importance of adequate protocols for the management of patients with inherited or acquired coagulation disorders undergoing oral surgery. A case of surgical treatment in a patient with Behcet’s disease is reported which required a clinicalanamnestical multidisciplinary approach. Materials and methods A patient with increased thromboembolic risk for different concomitant pathological factors, such as Behcet’s disease, hyperhomocysteinaemia and deficiency of protein S, underwent extraction of 4.7. Results The coordination with the hematologist and the rheumatologist in the planning of the intervention resulted in a good post-operative healing and a satisfactory surgical result. Conclusions The multidisciplinary approach allows dentists in private clinics to perform surgery also in patients with inherited or acquired coagulation disorders and Behcet’s disease.
