From the perspective of narrative journalism, this article proposes to reconstruct the civic insurgency that has recently emerged within families, especially among mothers and wives, of desaparecidos in Mexico, many of whom are Central American migrants. Mothers, wives, sisters, but also fathers, brothers, and grandparents, are speaking out against the undeniable absence of a rule of law whose silence continues to go unpunished. Their suffering has been changing as a consequence of the permanent negation and violation of the fundamental rights of those men and women who, looking for family members, need to know where they are, and retrieve their bodies: their battle has, therefore, turned into a rebellion moving toward the gradual organization of small groups, that are multiplying in number, thus creating a network of support and aid for the incessant search not only through police and government offices but also over fields sown with clandestine graves. In this regard, one should emphasize their continuity with the group known as “Las Doñas”, the Eureka Committee established by mothers and relatives of desaparecidos: it is still an active group that was founded in Mexico by Rosario Ibarra de la Piedra in the 1970s, during the years of State Terrorism.

Abstract
In this regard, one should emphasize their continuity with the group known as “Las Doñas”, the Eureka Committee established by mothers and relatives of desaparecidos: it is still an active group that was founded in Mexico by Rosario Ibarra de la Piedra in the 1970s, during the years of State Terrorism.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
