A group is a complex system, characterized by organizational structures, hierarchies and rules that often vary over time. The differences between individual and collective expectations, goals and needs easily trigger interpersonal conflicts which, if not properly managed, can gradually hinder the achievement of organization’s goals and lead to the fragmentation of the group itself. Many researches on group decision-making show that group’s communication style and leadership style, are very important in the group’s ability to overcome conflicts. A supportive leadership can effectively increase both the group performance and group’s members satisfaction. Effective leadership requires specific personal and interpersonal abilities in attention, communication and regulation also of group’s emotional and social issues.
