The treatment of knee osteoarthritis: a look to the future Knee osteoarthritis is commonly seen in orthopedic practice, and treatment alternatives consist in: the traditional therapy, focused on the management of symptoms; a new conservative therapy, based on viscosupplementation or on agents that attempt to modify, and even reverse, the natural history of the disease; and surgery. Surgical options include arthroscopic débridement, realignment osteotomy, and arthroplasty. Finding new and safer techniques to obtain better and more durable results is currently the goal of many scientific studies. Thus, it is not surprising that a lot of reports appear in the international literature: sometimes Authors don’t agree on results, and controversies on the validity of newer solutions arise. The Authors briefly analyze some treatment alternatives for knee osteoarthritis, with particular emphasis on knee arthroplasty, and discuss possible future developments.

Abstract
The Authors briefly analyze some treatment alternatives for knee osteoarthritis, with particular emphasis on knee arthroplasty, and discuss possible future developments.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
