The entry of children of immigrants in the host country preschools is one of the first social occasions that makes it possible to observe the similarities and differences between the ways the children are cared and educated. There are few occasions for parents to express themselves and to be heard in school, especially immigrant parents. The study we are presenting was an attempt to change this perspective by creating occasions for discussion between parents in the host country preschools. The themes that emerged from the focus groups stress the pedagogical potential of the intercultural dialogue in order to decrease the distance between the culture of the family and the host culture, and also shed light on the conflicts that arise, so that they do not remain latent aspects of the children’s educational experience

Abstract
