The emission properties of crystalline thin films of oligothiophenes (OT) containing an even number of rings have been re-investigated within the framework of the theory of the pinwheel aggregates. The theory predicts that, because of the presence of a component of the transition moment perpendicular to the long molecular axis, the bottom of the exciton band is allowed and can become superradiant in highly ordered crystals as indeed observed. Abstract
