This paper deals with some issues that concern lifelong learning in the specific field of educa- tional work. Lifelong learning is an essential commitment of the educational work, because of its deep connection with sudden social and territorial transformations and because of its dialogue with variable individual needs and new social problems. Some important questions about lifelong learning of professional educa- tors concern its meanings, its aims, its subjects, in order to train professionals able to take on the challenge of education in the contemporary age. But further questions take shape consider- ing the current context of professional educa- tors, characterized by the economical and so- cial crisis, the crisis of welfare state, the privati- zation of social services, the decrease of public funding and the widespread precariousness of those working in the filed of education
Questo contributo intende avanzare delle preliminari riflessioni su alcune peculiari sfide che la formazione permanente si trova ad affrontare in relazione all'ambito specifico dell'educare professionale. La formazione permanente risulta elemento essenziale della professione educativa, portata a confrontarsi con i rapidi mutamenti dei contesti sociali e territoriali, a essere in dialogo costante con i mutevoli bisogni individuali e con l'emergere di nuove domande sociali. Ma ulteriori domande si aprono nel momento in cui si incrocia la riflessione sul senso, le forme, i contenuti della formazione permanente per gli educatori e le educatrici impegnati nella sfida educativa oggi, all'analisi dell'attuale scenario lavorativo di questi, segnato dalla crisi economica e sociale, dallo smantellamento del welfare, dalla privatizzazione dei servizi, dalla contrazione della spesa pubblica e dalla diffusa precarietà dei professionisti educativi
