The concept of social action, commonly used to explain the social act of man in society, refer to underlying assumptions and theoretical dimensions of sociology. Therefore, although it is generally opposed to the structural approaches or to the macro-analysis of the social order, the theory of action is an area of reflection related to a paradigm by which each sociological perspective could not avoid coming to terms. The book goes through the work of Marx, Weber, Durkheim and Simmel, illustrating how their theories have been built dealing the issue of social action.
